Virginia Tech and Radford

Radford_3.jpgRadford and Virginia Tech - Picturesque Yet Painful

Near Blacksburg VA, two campuses educate thousands of students every year. Radford is smaller, and about 30 minutes away from the bigger school, Virginia Tech. Radford, nestled in a small valley is picturesque, and reminiscent of the college campuses that our parents or grandparents might have experienced years ago. Virginia Tech is expansive but beautiful, with gorgeous stone buildings, and beautiful walkways.

On April 16, 2007, Virginia Tech's campus and culture were changed forever, when a student, Seung-Hui Cho fatally shot 32 faculty members and students, wounding 17 others before killing himself on campus; the massacre is the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in U.S. history.

What the enemy meant for evil, the Lord used to draw this community together, in ways that you can still see. Christian faculty, local churches, and students still have an unusual unity and bond on this campus.
