The National Day of Prayer Task Force has been calling on Americans to pray since 1989. Since that time, millions of people have united from coast-to-coast to intercede for our nation and its leaders.
In 2013, this mission was further expanded with the launch of the Pray for America Bus Tour to mobilize prayer for the seven centers of influence in our nation (Church, Media, Education, Government, Military, Family and Business). Over the past two years, the P4A Bus Tour has led prayer groups in 43 states, 500 communities, impacting 130,000 people with 9,000 decisions for Christ.
This year the National Day of Prayer: Pray for America Bus Tour takes to the road on July 17th. We will engage and encourage thousands to pray for America by praying for the more than 21,995,000 Americans who serve in local, state, and national government! In 1 Timothy 2:2 we are told to pray "for rulers, and for everyone who has authority over us. Pray for these people so that we can have a quiet and peaceful life always lived in a godly and reverent way.”
Realizing that many of these individuals serve in elected office, we are traveling to Cleveland, OH, and Philadelphia, PA to the Republican and Democratic National Conventions from July 18th to 24th. While there we will rally in prayer for delegates, candidates, and all those in attendance. In connection with our friends at the Congressional Prayer Caucus Foundation, our bus teams will encourage others to join the nationwide effort to proudly display “In God We Trust” (our national motto) on windows and in government buildings, courtrooms, schools, and businesses all across America. Following the conventions, we will journey to Washington DC on July 30th to join with national leaders to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of our national motto.
We encourage you to pray with us as we chronicle our fourth historic prayer journey throughout the United States. You can follow along at pray4america.org, InGodWeTrust.com, and on Facebook.
